Baby Massage

Siw weeks to crawling babies
Babies love to be touched, it enhances the bond begun at birth. Bonding develops through eye contact, skin contact, vocalisation and two way communication. Through massage babies acquire knowledge about their bodies, soft touch relaxes muscles, assisted movement helps release trapped wind. Parents learn about their baby’s body and understand their needs. Massage boosts their immune system, encourages blood circulation and digestion. Promotes better sleep for baby (and mother!) Encourages weight gain, encourages nervous system development. The drop-in class will include massage with oil and fun nursery rhymes with dynamic movement. Bicycling the legs is great for the digestive system as well as the legs and hip joints. Cross body movements stimulate both hemispheres of the brain – brain gym – and encourage coordination. All of these actions together helps your baby discover their body and the singing is fun! In your class I will demonstrate massage techniques that you will practise and use yourself at home. Slow soothing strokes can comfort your baby before bed or more invigorating rolling massage with nursery rhymes, for example, can stimulate and interest your baby in the mornings. Daily baby massage can also help your baby’s digestion, immune system and muscle tone.
